Job Overview:

CSWI’s Contractor Solutions segment is a rapidly growing organization. The company has grown revenue 4X in 7 years through organic market penetration and acquisitions. The company is also well funded, has low debt levels, and consistently invests in new systems and capabilities to support this growth. With this level of development and dynamic activity, various impactful, cross-functional initiatives always require focused oversight and direction to ensure successful completion. As a result, we are looking to establish a new project management function (PMO) and need an experienced Director of Project Management to lead that effort.

The Director of Project Management will need a broad, versatile skill set capable of managing projects ranging from integrating an acquired company to ERP system implementations to product insourcing and vendor transition initiatives. The candidate should have a “player/coach” mentality, be capable of personally leading more significant, more visible projects, and be experienced in building teams and managing staff. The expectation is that the Director of Project Management will work as an individual contributor for the first 3-6 months while they learn the business dynamics and form a vision of what resources will be required for the fully formed PMO once appropriate staffing levels are understood the Director would recruit a staff of project managers or analysts.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Recruit a high-performing team and establish clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for PMO team members.

  • Design and implement policies, procedures, and methodologies to guide best practices in managing complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Define and standardize project management processes, tools, and templates to ensure project consistency and efficiency.
  • Project Governance and Oversight:
  • Develop and implement project governance frameworks, including risk management, issue resolution, and change control processes.
  • Oversee a portfolio of ongoing projects, monitoring timelines and budgets to ensure successful delivery and eliminate surprises.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Specific types of projects:
  • Larger projects will mainly consist of integrating new company acquisitions and implementing new ERP system functionality.
  • Other projects may include cross-functional activities requiring organization across multiple departments or significant investments with long durations.
  • Examples include facility moves, industry certifications (ISO, UL, etc.), product introductions or insourcing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in project management, with a broad, versatile skill set and diverse application of project management approaches.
