Estimated Salary: $175,000 - $195,000

Job Summary:

Cohen and Steers is currently seeking a highly motivated, back-end C# developer to join our Information Technology department. The individual will be a senior member of a small team that works primarily with Market Data applications and the Quant & Derivatives Strategies Team to solve complex problems, develop custom software solutions, build out the firm’s risk management capabilities, and provide support for all critical applications and processes. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Support and enhance the firm’s market data applications (e.g., Security Master, Price Master, 3rd Party Market Data Vendors)
  • Partner with the Quant & Derivatives Strategies Team to enhance the firm’s proprietary risk system and quantitative & derivatives capabilities, and building out / managing of 3rd party risk systems (e.g., MSCI Barra)
  • Develop and enhance the firm’s inventory of custom-built .NET solutions and SQL databases
  • Complete large and/or complex projects within the set milestones
  • Partner with developers and other team members in identifying and proposing application system changes, enhancements, or troubleshooting
  • Responsible for supporting business users, investigating, and resolving application errors, data discrepancies, and queries


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience with C#, .NET Core, and R/Python in a similar financial services environment
  • Experience working with Market Data and APIs (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, XpressFeed, Capital IQ)
  • Expert in SQL Server (T-SQL, Stored Procedures, ETL, Data Warehousing)
  • Experience with Azure DevOps Deployment Pipelines
  • Experience using job scheduling software (JAMS, Active Batch, AutoSys or equivalent)
  • Experience with Microservices
  • Knowledge of publicly traded asset classes (Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives)
  • Experience developing application solutions through all phases of the application lifecycle from initial requirements gathering to ongoing support
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong client service skills: excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of end users to help develop sustainable business solutions
  • Ability to work with users and managers to prioritize projects and deliverables
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives


Beneficial Skills:

  • Technical writing and documentation
  • Knowledge of investment risk concepts (e.g., volatility, beta, tracking error, VaR, Information ration, stress tests)
  • Knowledge of risk modeling methodologies (e.g., Historical Simulation), Multi-Factor Risk Models (e.g., MSCI Barra, Axioma, Bloomberg PORT)
  • Experience with Excel (Modeling, Add-Ins, Formulas, Pivot Tables, VBA)
  • Experience with Cloud Computing (Azure, AWS, Snowflake)
  • CFA, FRM, CAIA, or similar designations
