Overview
The Software Development Director will lead the development and DevOps for the Empower Solutions Portfolio. This position will have 6-8 direct and up to 100 indirect reports. A primary responsibility will be positioning the organization for growth, particularly in the cloud domain – identifying the necessary skills, talent locations, and building additional development teams from the ground up. The Software Development Director will also work closely with the Portfolio Project Manager to estimate, plan, and deliver the roadmap, both for on-prem and cloud applications.

The Software Development Director will lead the development and DevOps for the Empower Solutions Portfolio. This position will have 6-8 direct and up to 100 indirect reports. Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining on-prem and cloud applications according to business needs.
- Translate the portfolio roadmap to capabilities and resource capacity, identify such gaps, develop and implement a plan to fill them.
- Develop an outsource/insource strategy and build new cloud software development teams from the ground up.
- Develop operational and capex budgets.
- Coordinate the development execution and assign teams to work based on capabilities and roadmap priorities.
- Track progress towards portfolio KPIs and h it delivery objectives with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ensure the development teams adhere to the Qualitry Process and engineering practices defined by the Chief Engineer.
- Identify opportunities for execution efficiency improvement.
- Mentor and help develop delivery-oriented skills in the staff.
- Interview, hire, onboard, and regularly evaluate lower-level management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field
- At least 10 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 5 years of managerial experience Experience with budgeting, planning, and execution of all aspects of a software development organization
- Proven experience with delivery of software products on time
- Experience with building teams from the ground up
- Experience with cloud software engineering
- Experience working with remote outsource teams
- Experience with Agile Scrum software development
- Solid presentation and communication skills
- Operating with integrity, transparency, and humility
- Acting as a true company owner to advance the overall interests of Waters
- Carrying a broad global perspective of markets, tech, and trends
- Balancing clear strategic thinking and accountability in execution to deliver results
