Education Research Associate -- Remote | WFH

Overview

We are dedicated to advancing research, evaluation, and the implementation of equitable and effective practices across K-16 education. We are currently seeking up to three Research and/or Technical Assistance Associates to join our collaborative team. This role involves contributing to multiple ongoing projects in areas such as K-16 systems change, teacher development, STEM and computer science education, digital learning, multilingual learners, and college and career pathways.

This position ideally locates within commutable distance to our offices in Menlo Park, CA, or Arlington, VA. However, we highly value and will consider fully remote candidates.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

Conduct comprehensive literature, website, document, and policy reviews.

Provide essential project management support, including tracking progress toward milestones, recommending procedural enhancements, and organizing project documents and databases (e.g., schedules, status reports).

Contribute to designing research instruments such as surveys, interviews, and observation protocols.

Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.

Prepare research findings in formats suitable for academic, policy, and non-academic audiences, including reports, briefs, and presentations.

Apply an equity lens and engage diverse perspectives in all project activities.

Grow professionally through project-embedded mentorship and ongoing development opportunities.

Research-focused Candidates Will

Coordinate and monitor data collection activities, such as surveys, observations, and interviews.

Prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) packages and district research applications.

Participate in data collection through activities like interviews, focus groups, and classroom observations.

Technical Assistance-focused Candidates Will

Coordinate technical assistance activities, manage logistics, and communicate effectively with participants.

Support meeting facilitation by summarizing themes, collecting feedback, and analyzing data.

Engage directly with technical assistance partners, participants, and clients.

Design and deliver professional development and learning opportunities for educators and administrators.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Master's degree in social sciences, education, policy, or related fields, with at least one year of relevant work experience or equivalent.

Experience with various research or technical assistance methodologies.

Research experience preferably includes large-scale surveys, experimental research, or case studies, with a focus on educational settings.

Technical assistance experience may involve needs sensing, planning, designing professional learning activities, and enhancing educational practices.

Background in or experience with the US public PreK-16 education system, particularly with Black, African American, Latinx, Hispanic students, rural communities, or students and families with limited financial means.

Proficiency in crafting clear, concise research summaries, reports, and presentations.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, study sites, or participants.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Willingness to travel 5-6 times annually for site visits and client meetings, typically lasting 3-4 days each.

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion both in research/technical assistance and in the workplace.

Preferred Qualifications

US permanent residency or citizenship preferred due to federal contract requirements.

Demonstrated training and experience in areas like teacher development, STEM and computer science education, digital learning, multilingual learners, and college and career pathways.

Familiarity with federal background check processes.

Compensation

Salary ranges from $72,500 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with geographic location, market competitiveness, and internal equity considerations.
