This job will coordinate, plan, and manage the implementation of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs within a defined CCM business unit. This job will manage programs to prevent injuries, health impairments and collaborate with business unit directors and plant managers to prevent, perform root cause analysis, and resolve environmental, health and safety problems. The incumbent will have an indirect reporting relationship to the business unit Director, Operations. This position may have direct reports. Standard working hours are 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. Travel required could be up to 50% to assist the Business Unit Facilities in meeting EHS expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Regular strategic communication with Director, EHS and business unit Director, Operations
- Assist the business unit Director, Operations in strategic planning across the business unit which includes data analysis, problem solving, and corrective action implementation
- Acts as a coach and mentor to the business unit site leaders regarding safety tools, EHS system maturity, concepts, divisional read across initiatives, and mindset
- Assist the business unit Director, Operations in facilitation of business unit EHS calls
- Work side by side with business unit Site Safety Champions implementing and maintaining site-specific integrated safety plans, EHS standard work and other Carlisle safety programs
- Conduct comprehensive policy, special emphasis, and compliance audits throughout entire business unit and other Carlisle facilities
- Manage/execute targeted environmental, health and safety projects throughout business unit and CCM
- Attend required management team meetings and safety committees
- Prepare, implement, and execute safety training, on-boarding, and mentoring
- Serve as primary advisor regarding all safety issues for business unit leadership teams, supervisors, local safety committees and hourly associates
- Maintain close contact with government and members of the local safety communities
- Maintain company compliance with all appropriate OSHA and state safety regulations and maintain appropriate reporting and accountability systems
- Participate in industry and professional interest groups to stay current on trends, issues, and technological innovation
- Track OSHA recordable incidents, rates and trends; and regularly report safety performance measures to leadership
- Lead, track and review all business unit EHS incidents for complete root causes, trends, corrective action completion and business unit read-across applicability
- Participate in the strategic planning of manufacturing process, facility modifications, and new equipment and process installs to ensure that potential environmental and safety related consequences are considered
- Expectation to understand, participate in, and support company COS initiatives, with focus on developing a lean mindset

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to evaluate process system performance and identify necessary modifications and improvements.
- Ability to manage relationships with various vendors (such as waste disposal vendors and stack testing vendors) as well as professional third-party environmental consultants
- Knowledge of environmental regulations across all media types including federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Ability to work independently working to execute multiple time-sensitive reports at one time
- Knowledge of methods and equipment associated with general production processes.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related field and / or relevant equivalent education
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a health and safety role
- Valid Driver’s license
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in safety management or related field
- 6 + years of experience in safety management, specifically in a manufacturing or processing facility
- Multi-site EHS management experience
- EHS related certification by a professional EHS association (CSP, CIH)
