Job Summary
The Emerging Solutions Engineering Manager is responsible for the development and leadership of engineering resources, tools, and techniques in support of the Emerging Solutions business. This person directs and manages engineering personnel to assist in presales, consulting, engineering, service, and research and design activities in support of the Emerging Solutions portfolio and business. Responsible for development of procedures, work processes, tools, and programs that increase the technical efficiency and effectiveness of engineering staff. Provides leadership and direction to engineering personnel that support Yokogawa strategies and business objectives. Responsible for Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to prove new technologies with new and existing customers leading to sales opportunities.
Responsibilities And Results
Works in partnership with Emerging Solutions Product Management and Business Development personnel to deliver annual business targets.
Specific product category focuses include Asset Management Solutions (Sushi Sensor Solutions), Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTSX), and turnkey custom-designed application specific solutions.
Develops, maintains, and enforces uniform project management of all engineering projects.
Directs key engineering personnel in the participation of cross functional technical teams.
Strategically accepts/declines incoming projects based on potential and fit with Emerging Solutions and Yokogawa goals and objectives.
Maintains engineering project lists and dashboards including the assignment, status, and resource requirements to illustrate overall available engineering capacity and ensure project goals and metrics are met.
Responsible for providing uncompromising quality to all work processes in designated areas of responsibility.
The Emerging Solutions Engineering team’s roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: technical discussions/subject matter expertise with internal and external customers, support data analysis of asset monitoring solution, own Proof of Concepts from start to finish, develop project quotes and proposals, software and hardware customizations and modifications, integrate Yokogawa solutions to customer systems including DCS and cloud, design repeatable application packages consisting of Yokogawa products combined with 3rd party components to provide a full solution, support new feature requirements and testing
Mentor engineers in both areas of technical expertise and in career growth matters.
Maintain working knowledge of applicable industry trends, technical standards, and local laws and regulations that affect delivery and use of projects/products.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or similar technical discipline. Equivalent industry experience may be substituted for education requirements.
7+ Years of successful engineering design, plant engineering, service engineering, or consultancy experience
Knowledge of and experience working with DTSX and Asset Management/Monitoring technologies is a plus.
Previous engineering management experience is a plus
