Purpose of Role:

Under the direction of the Vice President, Innovation and Technology, the Engineering Manager, Process and Sustainability is responsible for leading a highly skilled team of individuals responsible for ESCO Engineering Process and Services. The team consists of senior level subject matter experts in CAD modeling, design, automation, PLM design and management, and project management. The team is located in Portland, Oregon and Manila Philippines.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Ownership: Will be Weir ESCO’s engineering process owner and responsible for the long term systems roadmap, monitoring process performance, and managing continuous process improvement activities to meet business objectives. Understand internal customer needs for engineering process tools/services and translate into engineering and business requirements; prioritize, scope, communicate, and initiate projects ensuring each project is delivered on time and budget while delivering results for relevant stakeholders.

Technology & System Alignment: Responsible for engineering tools system alignment within Weir and ESCO software maintenance budget. Team is responsible for improving the user experience, trouble shooting, as well as training. Manage and set strategic direction for engineering process and systems advancements that support global engineering and our business goals.

Leadership & Collaboration: Responsible for collaborating with others within ESCO and Weir to ensure we maintain expected cyber security requirements while maximizing productivity with our engineering and support tools. Directly supervises multiple teams of engineers. Strong leadership and building effective teams is required. Self-motivated with the ability to collaborate with and influence peers.

Sustainability: The role provides sustainability leadership by ensuring products are made with minimum impact on resources, minimize impact on the environment, and safe to use and is responsible for the coordination of sustainable improvements. Set priorities for initiatives based on corporate goals and objectives. Ensure execution of initiatives, by ensuring alignment and coordination across key internal stakeholders: senior leadership team, operations, supply chain, sourcing, product and technology development, product teams, and regional sales. Chair ESCO product safety committee to ensure products can be made and used safely.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or related). MBA strongly preferred.
  • Generally, 8, or more years of management experience; prior experience in physical testing methods, sensor technology, data acquisition and equipment operation.
  • Strong business planning skills, familiar with development business cases to justify market product development.
  • Proven experience in continuous improvement projects and driving measurable improvements in process performance and business outcomes
  • Strong understanding of methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen highly desired.
