This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.

This position will administer critical management information systems used by all divisions of MNIT Services. The incumbent will lead day to day maintenance efforts as well as projects across the environment to ensure stable continued operations in a compliant manner and to deliver feature and capacity enhancements through projects as required.

Responsibilities include managing major technologies and/or supporting technologies as follows:

  • Provide expertise in analysis of network computing operations, maintenance, and support.
  • Meet with MNIT Stake Holders to elicit needs, establish project plans, and agree upon strategies.
  • Act as a point of escalation to lower tiers of support for Active Directory infrastructure, software, and administration.
  • Active Directory activity monitoring.
  • Provide additional support for managing, troubleshooting, and ensuring the stability of the MN.IT Enterprise Active Directory infrastructure, Azure Solutions and MNIT Services (as appropriate) infrastructure and configuration according to industry best practices and security requirements.
  • Ensure that all systems have malware/antivirus protection as is appropriate.
  • Plan for, test, and implement infrastructure, operating system, and driver patching.
  • Lead system rebuild/replacement projects.
  • Evaluate security recommendations for server build standards.
  • Serve as the lead for scripting Server infrastructure.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of professional IT related experience.

Experience must include:

  • Thorough knowledge of Azure Repos using Git, Azure Pipelines, Azure Boards/Dev Ops Board & Active Directory technologies involved in infrastructure support, networking and internetworking protocols.
  • Expert knowledge of current Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience with design, setup, configuration and installing a complete domain.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced technical knowledge and experience in at least six (5) of the following areas:

  • Active Directory Management & understand of modern authentications and other LDAP based solutions.
  • Azure DevOps components (such as Azure Repos using Git, Azure Pipelines, Azure Boards)
  • Installation, configuration, and functionality-based productivity application suites (Microsoft Domain Controller & Active Directory domain Builds)
  • Worked out of a ticket system and understanding of change management process.
  • Powershell scripting experience used for automation.
  • Backup and restoration systems and best practices
  • Azure experience in Microsoft update management, AD DS Services connection & health monitoring.
