Adult Education ESOL Teacher (Part-Time)

Reports To: Lexington Two and Four Adult Education Director

Performance Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in English to assist adults in language acquisition to include speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Assist ESOL Facilitator in assimilating adults into school and community activities
  • Maintain permanent/teacher and student folder to include Adult Education Registration, Pre and Post Test, and a sample of adult work
  • Maintain class attendance and turn in daily
  • Plan lessons utilizing curriculum provided with the assistance of ESOL Facilitator
  • Adhere to Quality Indicators as outlined in SDE Local Program Review Process document
  • Attend all required SDE/Lexington 2 & 4 Adult Education meetings & trainings, to include ESL Academy
  • All other duties as assigned

Education / Certification

  • Bachelors Degree and/or 2 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language
  • SC Teaching Certification
  • TESOL Certification (Preferred)

Demonstrated Skills

  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on quality initiatives
  • Ability to work independently to accomplish pre-determined goals
  • High degree of initiative to implement positive changes within the existing system

Salary: Based on the Lexington 2 & 4 Adult Education Staff Salary Schedule

Schedule

  • Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, 8:00 - 12:00
  • Schedule is based on program needs and may be adjusted accordingly.
  • Continuation of position is contingent upon available funding and enrollment.
