As the administrative arm of the State Board of Education , CDE is responsible for implementing state and federal education laws, disbursing state and federal funds, holding schools and districts accountable for performance, licensing all educators, and providing public transparency of performance and financial data.

Description Of Job

As the Executive Assistant to the Chief Talent Officer of the Colorado Department of Education, you will have an opportunity to change students' lives as a member of the CDE Talent Division. The Talent Division is a system built upon the preparation, recruitment, hiring, induction, mentoring, professional growth, compensation, work environment, and performance support of all educators. Together, these are the building blocks of an educator talent management system that helps to attract, retain, and develop the best educators possible.

You’ll Be Doing Some Amazing Things Including

  • Support Chief Talent Officer on developing and maintaining project plans and initiatives utilizing cloud-based project management software (Smartsheet).
  • Manage incoming correspondence by answering general phone calls and emails directed to the Chief Talent Officer
  • Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly appointments and calendar updates for the Chief Talent Officer and other leadership team members in the division as needed
  • Schedule and coordinate internal and external meetings
  • Attend meetings as needed to help facilitate groups, activities, or take notes
  • Lead and/or assist in compiling general correspondence including but not limited to: email responses, memos, award letters, annual renewal notices, mail merges etc.
  • Track and support Chief Talent Officer in monthly timecard submissions and annual performance management for all direct reports
  • Consistently utilize technology and established procedures (Smartsheet) to track Chief Talent Officer activities, initiatives, and engagements
  • Engage with the Educator Talent Operations Team in managing effective and efficient operating processes
  • Assist with special projects as needed

  • Strong interpersonal skills and focus on customer service.
  • Ability to exercise discretion.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of the PK-12 school system in Colorado.
  • Knowledge of the roles state government and local districts play in Colorado, especially in public education.
  • Past experience working with boards.

Appeal Rights
