Role Summary

The Executive Vice President (EVP) of Kendall Electric reports directly to the President and assumes comprehensive Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for the Kendall Electric Division. Beyond financial oversight, the EVP plays a pivotal role in strategic commercial leadership, identifying growth prospects, effective market positioning, and customer-centric solutions. Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Strategic Vision: The EVP shapes the division’s strategic direction, identifying opportunities for growth and ensuring alignment with market dynamics.
  • Financial Stewardship: In addition to P&L management, the EVP focuses on profitable revenue generation and operational excellence.
  • Collaboration: Collaboration with other Kendall Group divisions is essential to achieve collective objectives.
  • Leadership: The EVP oversees General Managers of regional units, fostering cohesive leadership across the organization.

Exciting work you will do:

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Executive Vice President of Kendall Electric will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop the direction and strategy of Kendall Electric, encompassing:
    • Planning Process: Oversee and refine the planning process to ensure alignment with company objectives and market trends.
    • Sales Accountability: Establish metrics and targets for sales performance, holding teams accountable for achieving goals.
    • Cross-functional Business Strategy: Foster collaboration across departments to develop comprehensive strategies that integrate various aspects of the business.
    • Development and Execution of Services: Drive the development and execution of services offered by Kendall Electric, ensuring they meet customer needs and align with company goals.
    • Collaboration on Manufacturer Alignment: Work closely with manufacturers to align strategies and optimize partnerships for mutual success.
    • Develop Strategy on Utilization of Kendall Group Resources: Strategize the optimal use of Kendall Group resources, including marketing and business development, to enhance overall performance and growth.


  • Provide executive leadership & execution, encompassing:
    • Provide consistent leadership, direction, and accountability to General Managers (GMs) and Owner-Associates for achieving success in their respective areas.
    • Provide active coaching and support to direct reports, assisting them in navigating business and personnel challenges.
    • Promote and reinforce the company culture, vision, mission, and strategy, encouraging Owner-Associates to understand their role in advancing these principles beyond mere slogans.
    • Foster people development by promoting the adoption of coaching and mentorship programs to nurture talent and enhance skills across all levels.
    • Drive succession planning throughout the field to ensure a pipeline of capable leaders for future organizational needs.
    • Lead company-wide initiative adoption by championing the implementation of strategic initiatives and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
    • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, emphasizing the importance of staying ahead of customer demands and market competition.
    • Develop GMs' and Owner-Associates' skill sets, leadership capabilities, and strategic mindset through targeted training and development programs.
    • Drive improvements in customer experience to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
    • Enhance the overall Owner-Associate experience by streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
  • Drive collaboration throughout the organization, encompassing:
    • Drive a collaborative culture, using an open and transparent leadership style, leveraging all products and services to all customers.
    • Advocate for field business operations by effectively "managing up" and voicing the needs and challenges of the field to the executive team.
    • Bridge the gap between field needs and the Voice of the Customer (VOC) to drive organizational transformation and strategic decision-making.
    • Collaborate closely with leaders responsible for our supplier strategy to ensure alignment between sales teams and vendors.
    • Engage with the marketing department to influence regional and Kendall Electric-wide digital customer experiences, ensuring alignment with sales strategy and enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
  • Cultivate executive-level customer relationships to enhance rapport and drive business growth.
  • Foster strong executive-level relationships with supplier representatives to facilitate effective collaboration and partnership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

  • Work Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in general management / leadership experience in electrical distribution, electrical product sales, or other related field, comprised of sales, planning, strategy, P&L leadership and segment management; Five (5) years of experience in leading teams remotely and across multiple regions.
  • Education: BS or BA degree in business, or related field
  • Computer Skills: Experience working with MS Office
  • Analytical Skills: Analytical skills that include the understanding of how to collect critical data, identify key themes and trends and translate them into plausible recommendations.
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; provides excellent internal and external customer service; ability to collaborate, build followership and buy-in, coach, and drive change across a variety of stakeholder groups in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communication well with all levels of the organization; excellent negotiating skills; excellent presentation skills to influence all levels of the organization effectively, strong interpersonal and customer service skills; high degree of discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

  • Physical Environment: Normal office environment, warehouse and exposure to moving equipment.
  • Work Location: Reside within The Kendall Group geographic footprint.
  • Driver’s License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Travel: Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time
Qualifications we prefer but don’t require:

  • Work Experience: Prior experience in wholesale distribution or electrical wholesale distribution.
  • Education: MBA
  • Product Knowledge: Product knowledge of related manufacturers, applications, and pricing structures; knowledge of various customer types and industry categories
