Assists faculty and staff in developing and executing experimental research in hypersonic wind tunnels including assisting with maintaining laboratory space, equipment, and facilities; assists in specifying necessary upgrades; assists with purchases and installs various mechanical, pneumatic, optical and electronic systems; recommends usage and maintenance schedule for equipment and experimental rigs.

This position will require access to export controlled data and work in an export controlled facility. Eligibility for this position is restricted to “U.S. persons” as defined in U.S. export control regulations. “U.S. persons” include: (1) U.S. citizens or nationals; (2) permanent residents; (3) asylees or refugees; or (4) individuals otherwise described as “protected individuals” pursuant to Title 8 U.S. Code Section 1324b(a)(3)(b).

Minimum Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (i.e., Associate’s Degree plus 2 years work experience OR High School diploma plus 4 years work experience)

Major: Any technical major (including but not limited to Engineering, Science, Math, Agriculture, Welding, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Electronics)

Experience

Required:

2-4 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, avionics, aerospace repair, mechanical systems repair, maintenance, machining, mechanical engineering technology, electronics technician, electronics assembler, electrician, electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, research laboratory technician, test engineer, wind tunnel operation or other relevant field working in diverse teams, accomplishing large scale projects; ability to independently work on maintaining equipment and laboratory space; interest in operation and preparation of hypersonic wind tunnel experiments, one year of experience in a defense, aerospace, space, or other secure environment.
