Job Title: Financial Risk Manager (FRM)

Job Summary: As a Financial Risk Manager (FRM), you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing financial risks within an organization. This role requires expertise in risk analysis, quantitative modeling, and regulatory compliance to safeguard the financial health and stability of the company. You will collaborate with senior management, risk committees, and stakeholders to develop risk management strategies, implement risk controls, and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment and Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across various financial domains, including market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk.
    • Utilize quantitative tools, statistical models, and scenario analysis to quantify and evaluate the impact of risks on the organization's financial performance.
  • Risk Management Strategy:
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies and policies to mitigate identified risks and enhance the organization's risk-adjusted returns.
    • Establish risk limits, thresholds, and controls aligned with the organization's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Modeling and Forecasting:
    • Build and maintain financial models to assess the potential impact of market fluctuations, interest rate movements, and economic factors on the organization's risk exposures.
    • Provide recommendations for hedging strategies, risk mitigation techniques, and capital allocation based on risk analysis and scenario outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including Basel III, Dodd-Frank Act, and other relevant financial regulations governing risk management practices.
    • Prepare regulatory reports, risk disclosures, and compliance documentation for internal stakeholders, regulators, and auditors.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Advisory:
    • Communicate risk assessment findings, trends, and mitigation strategies to senior management, board of directors, and risk committees.
    • Act as a trusted advisor on risk-related matters, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and capital planning.
  • Continuous Monitoring and Review:
    • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs), risk metrics, and performance benchmarks to assess the effectiveness of risk management strategies and controls.
    • Conduct periodic reviews and stress testing exercises to validate risk models, assess resilience to adverse scenarios, and refine risk management approaches.
Skills Required

  • Risk Management Expertise: In-depth knowledge of financial risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices across market, credit, liquidity, and operational risk domains.
  • Quantitative Skills: Strong proficiency in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and financial forecasting techniques to assess and quantify risks.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with financial regulations, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks impacting risk management in financial institutions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex risk concepts, present findings to stakeholders, and influence decision-making.
  • Analytical Thinking: Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze data, identify risk trends, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, compliance, and audit departments, to achieve risk management objectives.

Education And Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field is typically required; advanced degrees (e.g., Master's or MBA) may be preferred.
  • Professional certification as a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is highly recommended.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in financial risk management, risk analytics, or a related role within a financial institution or consulting firm.
