Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with course work emphasis in Emergency Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Organizational Leadership or closely related, as determined by the Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director.
Successful completion of a comprehensive Emergency Management Internship Program as determined by the Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director; OR one (1) year of experience in a position primarily dedicated to a comprehensive Emergency Management program, as determined by the Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director.
Licenses or Certifications
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida Class "E" driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
Completion certificate for the following National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, IS-2200, ICS-300, and FEMA's Professional Development Series (PDS) certificate.
Complete within eighteen months (18 months) of appointment: Florida Division of Emergency Management's (FDEM) G-427 CERT Program Manager and G-428 CERT Train-the-Trainer.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinates assistance efforts before, during, and after emergencies, disasters, and for pre-planned events.
Builds, sustains and improves the capability to mitigate, prepare for, and respond to or recover from emergencies and natural disasters.
Participates in community outreach programs and provides oral presentations concerning All-Hazards preparedness. Responds to public inquiries both orally and in writing concerning emergency management activities.
Maintains the EOC and associated equipment in a ready state for activations.
Develops and coordinates an HSEEP compliant training and exercise program in support of the Mission of Emergency Management for employees, volunteers, and community partners.
