The East Orange VA Medical Center in East Orange, NJ is seeking a full-time Chief of Medicine to join the local leadership team in support of our Veteran population. The preferred candidate will be board-certified in Gastroenterology. However, other specialties may be considered.

This role will work closely with NJ's Chief of Staff in providing administrative and programmatic leadership, and in clinical care. As Chief of Medicine, you will balance duties related to administrative leadership and clinical duties in your respective specialty.

  • Collaborate and lead colleagues in developing, implementing, and evaluating objectives, policies, and standards essential for delivering optimal care to Veteran patients
  • Guide the development and implementation of programs such as professional standards, personnel issues, quality, and performance improvement
  • 50% of your time spent on administrative leadership duties

Key Requirements:

  • 5 years experience leading a physician team
  • Experience working within the VA or with complex veteran patient populations highly preferred
  • U.S. Citizen
  • B/C in Gastroenterology
  • Holds a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in ANY U.S. State

Additionally, the physician will work closely with our team of dedicated health care professionals to assure compliance with rational, regional, and local VA performance standards, and may serve on local committees as deemed necessary in support of the facility mission.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8a-4:30p - some occasions may require work outside of this core schedule as this is a 24/7 hospital facility. Subject to change based on agency needs.
