Seeking qualified individuals to join our stream restoration team and contribute to aquatic ecosystem restoration. Our projects are based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, where we provide technical expertise and engineering design for stream restoration and fisheries projects. As a Mid-Career or Senior Geomorphologist, you will be a key member of the Water Resources group working at the interface of fluvial geomorphology, fisheries ecology, and civil engineering. Project work for the Water Resources group includes correcting barriers to fish passage, stream restoration, and flood mitigation. You will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers to solve complex problems that require interdisciplinary coordination.
The typical salary range for this position is $82,000 to $107,000 and is commensurate with experience relative to this position. This is a full-time with benefits position.
What You Will Do
Analyze geologic, geomorphic and hydrologic data to assist with fish passage and river restoration projects
Synthesize existing conditions assessment to provide design justification
Assess hydraulics, sediment stability and scour of the proposed project using 1-D and 2-D hydraulic modeling software
Assess lateral channel migration potential, riverine and floodplain stability, and ecological function
Create maps, figures, and calculation sheets to present in reports and presentations to clients and regulators
Collaborate closely with a team of engineers and scientists to develop construction plans
Work on several projects simultaneously and delegate work to junior staff
Attends various meetings with clients, other engineering firms, and staff
Required Qualifications
Who we are looking for:
Registered Professional Geologist in Washington State
Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field
5 years of professional experience in stream restoration
Proficient using GIS for geomorphic and hydrologic assessment
Familiarity with 1-D or 2-D hydraulic modeling
Strong technical writing and presenting skills
Ability to work on multiple projects and delegate tasks to junior staff
Strong work ethic and sense of humor
Desired Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Geology with a focus in fluvial geomorphology
Understanding of stream simulation fish passage designs
Familiarity with habitat requirements of salmon species in Washington
Proficient in SRH-2D and SMS hydraulic modeling software
Experience with field surveying and site assessment data collection
WSDOT Fish Passage and Scour certifications
Construction and design experience
What We Prefer
M.S. or Ph.D. in fluvial geomorphology, physical geography, geology, civil/water resources engineering, environmental science, or a closely related field.
Experience with modeling sediment transport and sediment collection.
Licensed Geologist, or geologist-in-training titles
