As a Grocery Store Retail Buyer and merchandiser, you will select and purchase merchandise for our grocery store. You will work closely with vendors and ensure our shelves are stocked with high-quality products that meet customer demand. Additionally, you will create visually appealing displays and promotions to drive sales and enhance the customer shopping experience.
Responsibilities:
Select and purchase merchandise for the store, including household items, based on customer demand, market trends, and budget considerations.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and ensure timely delivery of products.
Monitor inventory levels, track sales trends, and adjust purchasing decisions to minimize out-of-stock situations and maximize sales.
Collaborate with the store manager and other team members to develop and implement merchandising strategies, including product placement, pricing, and promotions.
Create visually appealing displays and promotional signage to highlight featured products and drive customer engagement and sales.
Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify product expansion and differentiation opportunities.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory levels, and sales performance.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in retail buying, merchandising, or procurement, preferably in the grocery or seasonal gift industry.
Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
