The client is a technology enabled, AM Best A-rated, homeowners insurance carrier that writes the bulk of its business outside of FL but with regulatory reforms now implemented in FL, has decided to write select business in the state. The carrier has moved from starting out as an MGA to transitioning to become a full stack carrier. The carrier is founder led and is closely connected with well-known names in the carrier, distribution, and reinsurance space. They understand the market, they understand insurance production and they execute well. They have exceeded all their business plan benchmarks and are adding additional product lines. In short, they have a strong story to tell. Scope

Working with the Group CFO, the Group Controller will bring a wealth of expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles, and have a strong background in the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry. As the Group Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to the strategic financial decision-making process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior leadership, supporting decision-making processes to achieve organizational goals.
  • Oversee the financial operations of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement effective internal controls and financial processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and changes, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and facilitate smooth audits.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • Proven experience in the P&C insurance industry.
  • Previous experience with a public accounting firm is preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial systems and technology.
