Health Education Coordinator

Position: Health Education Coordinator 

Classification: Part-time (10 hours/week) 

Reports to: Health & Wellness Director 

 

Primary Function: 

Under the general supervision of the Health & Wellness Director, the Health Education Coordinator will develop and lead substance abuse, violence prevention, and health programs/activities for youth of different ages in a trauma-sensitive environment.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Teach health education classes for youth and teens. 
  • Guide various student enrichment activities. 
  • Plan and execute health program events and activities for youth. 
  • Network with various organizations. 
  • Work with various internal and external teams to promote learning and facilitate programs/projects around new initiatives. 
  • Communicate with Program Director and staff about class schedules, program needs, objectives, etc. 
  • Help implement program assessment and evaluation through talking to students, participating in observations, administering surveys and reflecting on teaching practice. 
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members. 
  • Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members. 
  • Ensure productive and effective work environment. 
  • Monitor program areas to ensure member safety. 
  • May participate in special programs or events. 
  • Participate in individual supervision, staff meetings, and organization training. 

 

In addition to the specific professional job duties, must also possess the ability to: 

 

  • Be passionate about health education and working with youth 
  • Be self-motivated, industrious and confident taking initiative. 
  • Communicate clearly and kindly with co-workers, parents, and kids. 
  • Be dedicated to social justice & culturally responsive teaching. 

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • A minimum of one year's experience in program planning/development in health education or related field.  
  • Ability to work with youth ages 6 -18. 
  • Knowledge of anti-drug education and best practices. 
  • Knowledge of the current youth landscape regarding drug use/abuse. 
  • Effectively use Microsoft Word, Outlook mail and Outlook calendar. 
  • Work effectively with volunteers, parents, school officials and other community members. 
  • Represent the Club positively in the community. 
  • Should be able to lift 25 pounds.  
  • Ability to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance and background check
