The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining occupational health and safety programs and initiatives to ensure the well-being of all employees and the prevention of accidents and incidents within our glass fabrication manufacturing facility. This role involves leading safety efforts, creating a culture of safety awareness, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and company policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Safety:
Works with Human Resources to develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the glass fabrication industry
Regularly reviews and updates safety protocols
Conducts safety audits and inspections
Works with Human Resources to plan, coordinate, deliver, and monitor safety training sessions for employees at all levels, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to perform their tasks safely.
Develops and maintains emergency response plans and procedures
Establish and maintain a safety committee to address safety issues
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Leads investigations into accidents, near-misses, and safety-related incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions with HR
Prepares and submits safety reports as required by regulatory agencies
Compliance and Regulations:
Stays up to date with federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensures the organization's compliance
Environmental Protection:
Ensures compliance with all environmental laws, regulations, and permits applicable to the glass fabrication facility
Maintains accurate records of environmental data, including emissions, waste generation, and resource consumption
Develops and oversees waste management programs to minimize the environmental impact of waste generated during the manufacturing process
Implements recycling initiatives to reduce waste and promote sustainability
Conducts environmental risk assessments to identify potential environmental hazards and their impact on the surrounding ecosystem
Develops and implements mitigation strategies to minimize the risk of environmental incidents
Preferred knowledge and experience with ISO.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATIONAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certifications is a plus
Preferred 3+ years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or glass fabrication environment
Strong knowledge of occupational safety regulations and standards
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Proficiency in safety management software and tools
Ability to analyze data and trends to drive continuous safety improvements
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
