Housing General Maintenance Supervisor

Normal Work Schedule:

M-F 7:30am to 4:30pm but may vary depending on University need and some evening and weekend for special events.

Anticipated Start Date:

August 1, 2024

Salary:

$60,000.00 annually

Job Summary:

The Supervisor, Maintenance oversees those employees in the building trades skills such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, locksmiths and movers. Collaboratively, the Supervisor and his crews maintain, refurbish, and repair all University facilities so that they are sound, comfortable, and aesthetically appealing.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Supervises skilled maintenance craftsman.
  • Prioritizes and schedules preventive maintenance.
  • Outlines and explains to subordinates work to be done; inspects completed tasks.
  • Prepares cost estimates, including time and materials, for services that are separate from normal maintenance projects.
  • Coordinates purchasing of materials for maintenance and special projects.
  • Oversees the maintenance of all academic, administrative and auxiliary buildings and structures of the University.
  • Oversees and assists in preventive maintenance on all equipment; inspects the quality of maintenance and repair work; directs and evaluates the performance of the maintenance staff daily.
  • Ensures the completion of maintenance and repair jobs in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Monitors service work orders for repairs and service calls to ensure prompt and efficient response is being maintained.
  • Develops and maintains a well-disciplined and well-adjusted work force of capable, motivated employees, and initiates corrective disciplinary action when needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in supervision of maintenance or construction work in commercial buildings.
  • Valid Alabama state driver’s license.
