HR Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist is on the front lines in making Wellnest a great place to work, by providing a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services, including researching, writing and implementing policies and procedures, developing and planning, organizing and administering human resources services (e.g. onboarding and off-boarding, compensation and benefits administration) and leading customer service functions.

Essential Functions

HR Operations:

  • Partners with management to interpret and implement human resources policies and procedures to address departmental and organization-wide HR related needs.
  • Provides ongoing direction and support to all Wellnest employees regarding a variety of human resources plans and procedures and supports the implementation of programs that help achieve and maintain employee satisfaction.
  • Researches, writes and implements policies and procedures according to changes in state and federal law, contract requirements (e.g. DMH) and best practices.
  • Manages the employee on-boarding and off-boarding process; partners with management to ensure an understanding of related requirements and procedures.
  • Responsbile for data entry in the Human Resourecs Information System (HRIS) and other HR data systems (e.g. VBAS), and conducts ongoing audits to ensure the highest level of accuracy of the data entered.
  • Manages the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records for all employees in the HRIS and coordinates the implementation of new functions or modules.
  • Assists with all aspects of Human Resources as it relates to data requests, including but not limited to data availability, ad-hoc reports, and technical support.

Benefits Administration

  • Provides customer service support to employees about Wellnest’s Health and Welfare plans, Retirement Plans and Worker’s Compensation benefits.
  • Assists employees with benefits enrollment; providing explanation of benefit eligibility, waiting periods and key program features.
  • Supports employees undergoing life event changes by explaining the options available as well as the impact of such changes on their current benefits.
  • Examines enrollment forms for completeness and accuracy, collecting and reviewing all required information and documentation necessary for enrolling employees and their dependents.
  • Plays an active role in our annual Open Enrollment process to ensure that employees across the network receive the support necessary to secure their and their dependents’ health benefits coverage.
  • Supports with the management of leave of absences.

Recruitment

  • Works closely with Human Resources Recruiter to develop and best-in-class approaches to Wellnest's candidate experience.
  • Supports with the development and implementation of high-quality leadership selection tools based on best practices.
  • Occasionally supports with preparing job descriptions, posting ads and managing the onboarding process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, public administration, public policy or a related field from an accredited college or university. Graduate degree preferred. Minimum of four years of progressive and related work experience. Experience using employee information, payroll, and applicant tracking software/systems is required.

Conditions Of Employment

Employee may be asked to pursue additional training when it is determined to be in the best interest of the Company. Employee must have the ability to use a personal vehicle with the required insurance coverage to complete the essential duties of their job and conduct agency business. Employee must maintain a valid California driver’s license and clean driving record that meets Wellnest’s insurance carrier’s criteria for liability coverage. In keeping with Company policy for all employees, the successful applicant must also complete a test for TB, and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice.

Working Conditions

Employee regularly works in an office environment. Employee may be required to work flexible, evening and/or weekend hours for time-sensitive projects.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to talk or hear in order to give and receive information and instructions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard up to 75% of the day.
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required.
