Job Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist will be involved in the daily functions of the Human Resource department including staff recruiting, vetting, interviewing, onboarding and training of new employees. This is a non-exempt position providing support to the Executive Director. This position must always maintain strict confidentiality of Firm and personnel information. This individual will assist in the coordination and facilitation of staff performance evaluations, and implementing and enforcing company policies and practices, as well as help plan firm functions throughout the year.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open staff positions; collaborates with Executive Director to understand skills and competencies required.
  • Implements new hire orientation, development, and employee recognition programs.
  • Facilitates exit interviews upon employee terminations.
  • Promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the talent management process.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, exams, and certifications.
  • Ensure that all HR policies and procedures are maintained, updated, and applied in accordance with applicable local and federal laws.
  • Builds and strengthens a culture of excellent client service by collaborating with Executive Director on performance management, professional development, leadership planning, and succession planning strategies.
  • Coordinates employee benefits enrollments and communicates with services providers concerning routine administration.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer leave; disputes and investigations; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Administers and updates employee records and status changes in a timely fashion.
  • Supports Executive Director and department management with performance management and improvement systems, to include employee relations coaching, counseling discussions, and participating in internal investigations. Recommends appropriate course of action and guides disciplinary discussions.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • May attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Administration:

  • Assist with and handle coordination of office social events, plan firm wide events
  • Order firm wide gifts when necessary
  • Greet and assist vendors
  • Order supplies on a weekly basis as needed
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties such as filing, scanning and copying

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively lead and strengthen a team to deliver high performance and ensure initiatives are effectively and efficiently delivered.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken and ability to establish credibility, build trust, and develop positive working relationships with team members, firm leadership, lawyers, and other professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and composure in stressful situations.
  • Proven success in creating clarity and consistency in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, as well as best practices in human resources and talent management.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and complex environment, meeting deadlines and successfully managing the daily workload.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • A results-oriented attitude with the ability to effectively prioritize and balance competing demands.
  • Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to foster relationships among various groups as appropriate.
  • Sound judgment and discretion.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • The position may require overtime and will require overnight travel.

Compensation for this position starts at 70,000 and is based on experience.
