Industrial Engineer
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for leading and deploying the best practices in the manufacturing organization. Will find ways to prevent waste and inefficiency in production processes. Work in a support role as needed on certain special projects. Train the workforce and implement lean core tools for work place improvements including safety, disorder elimination, and downtime reduction. Prepare 5S implementation schedules and implemented changes and ensure a positive effect on employees' attitudes and cost savings in operations.
Main Responsibilities
Support the AXIS system (implementation and ongoing execution of AXIS).
Lead and help implement the lean core tools across the plants (e.g. 5s, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizens, Visual Management)
Act as a change agent for leading continuous improvement initiatives including development and delivery of lean training materials and programs
Oversee the Diagnostics of Excellence Operations Nemak projects decided upon by the leadership team
Facilitate and lead teams in continuous improvement events
Facilitate problem solving by leveraging/modeling continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate root causes and permanently reduce variance.
Develop a detailed root cause analysis for each problem, where each root cause is validated through testing demonstrating that the condition or defect can be turned on or off
Perform data analysis and provide written reports that make problems and opportunities visible.
Work together with Industrial Engineering to analyze lines for constraints and bottlenecks to achieve continuous flow
Collaborate with different departments on special projects
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in the areas of Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, Lean principals, statistics and data analysis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams
Ability to solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to learn and understand materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
Experience with the following methodologies and practices: FMEA, Kaizen, Lean tools, 5S, Visual Factory Aids, SMED concepts, VSM, VOC and Poke Yoke
Lean Manufacturing Training preferred (TPS, Six Sigma, Lean Certification, Shingo Institute, etc.)
