We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Infrastructure Team. This role is focused on managing and supporting our on-premises and Azure SQL servers, with opportunities for professional growth in other infrastructure technologies.
Responsibilites
Manage on-premises and Azure SQL Servers, Azure Synapse, Reporting Services (SSRS), Integration Services (SSIS) and Analysis Services (SSAS) through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
Professionally represent the infrastructure team as a technical representative on projects
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
Participate in design sessions with application engineers and work closely with business analysts to develop business and software specifications
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems and participate in the Infrastructure Team's on-call rotation
Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and development teams
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL:
Working knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options and management for SQL Server and related services
Working experience with SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Engine, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
Excellent knowledge and understanding of data backup, recovery, security and integrity models
Experience with database instance builds, migrations, and upgrades
Excellent knowledge of database index and statistics management
Working technical knowledge of the PowerShell scripting language
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database performance problems using native monitoring tools
Experience working with Windows servers with failover clustering, including Active Directory, compute and storage concepts
Understanding of “database as code” concepts of managing data structure, schema with automated scripts
Experience working with code editors like Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, etc.
Experience with collaboration and source code repositories like GitHub, Azure DevOps, etc.
Experience in other core infrastructure areas like networking, unified communications, storage, compute and Windows/Linux server administration is a plus
Preferred
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration in mid and large-scale enterprise environments
