Job Purpose

Edgio is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our infrastructure, while also identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage physical and virtual server environments to support business-critical applications and services.
  • Ability to understand network infrastructure components, such as switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs, to support secure and efficient communication across the organization.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization to meet performance and availability objectives.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation, including network diagrams, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with the security team to implement and maintain security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Plan and execute infrastructure projects, such as server migrations, system upgrades, and capacity expansions, to support business growth and initiatives.
  • Evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance the company's infrastructure, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and external vendors to resolve infrastructure-related issues and ensure operational excellence.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents and emergencies outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Work with high value clients to understand, advocate and meet the clients’ needs.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with a focus on designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-scale systems.
  • Hands-on experience with bare metal server administration (fleet maintenance, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Highly experienced in configuring and managing Linux server operating systems.
  • Experience with networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Container Management platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt)
  • Experience working with Ticketing Systems (JIRA, ServiceNow)
  • Familiarity with Version Control tools (Gitlab, Github, etc.)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, departments and customers, and to handle ambiguity and imperfect information well.
  • Be proactive in researching systems and issues, document solutions thoroughly, and have interest in learning new technologies.
  • Familiarity with Monitoring tools (Observe, Kentik)
