McKendree University seeks an Instructor (non-tenure track) in the School of Education to teach methodology courses in science, social science, physical education, and/or the arts in our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), Paraprofessional, and undergraduate programs. As an Instructor in the School of Education, you will play a vital role in preparing future educators. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for teaching, a deep understanding of educational methodologies, and a strong background as a K-12 teacher.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging curriculum for methodology courses in various subject areas, including but not limited to science, social science, physical education, and the arts
Facilitate meaningful classroom discussions, group activities, and hands-on teaching experiences to develop students' pedagogical skills
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and effective teaching strategies
Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to aspiring educators to enhance their teaching skills
Stay current with best practices in K-12 education and adapt instructional methods accordingly
Supervise students in the field during student teaching
Qualifications
Master's or doctorate in Education or a related field. (Doctorate preferred)
Minimum of 3 years of K-12 teaching experience in a public or private school setting
A strong understanding of various teaching methodologies across different subject areas
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into the curriculum
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive academic community
A passion for teaching and a dedication to shaping the next generation of educators
Familiarity with working in the Brightspace Learning Management System (or similar) is desired. Day/night-time and/or online availability is preferred.
