We are now recruiting an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join Kemira’s Global Digital Services team in North America. Kemira’s Global Digital Services team is responsible for developing and delivering innovative solutions that help customers stabilize production, maintain compliance and achieve sustainability targets. As part of the team you will have exposure to applications across both Kemira’s Pulp Paper and Industry Water segments.


This position will report to the Manager, Global Digital Services, Monitoring and Control, in the Americas region. The location for the position will be in the United States, most preferably in the Midwest region but other locations will be considered. This is a fully remote position that requires the willingness to travel up to 50% of the time within the US and Canada. Occasional intercontinental travel might be required as well.


In this role, the main responsibilities include:

  • Supporting commercial sales initiatives by delivering and integrating our KemConnect Monitoring and control solutions at various customer sites.
  • Provide onsite and remote support with programming and instrumentation configuration and troubleshooting
  • Maintain timelines and supporting documents pertaining to project planning, commissioning and maintenance activities
  • Develop and provide equipment trainings for sales and application teams.
  • Continuous development of KemConnect Monitoring and Control solutions delivery.


What you will bring to the team:

  • Academic degree: preferably in chemical/process/automation engineering or industrial technologies and minimum of 3-5 years of relative industry experience
  • Hands-on and “can-do” attitude
  • Strong understanding and multifunctional competences relating to:

Process automation

  • Industrial networking
  • PLC program modifications (Siemens S7-1200/1500 skills seen as advantage)
  • Experiences working with plant wide automation systems (SCADA / DCS) or Advanced Process Control (APC) systems seen as benefit

Instrumentation and online analyzers

  • Calibration
  • Troubleshooting

Mechanical installations and commissioning of equipment

  • Experiences working with chemical dosing equipment and understanding applications or process knowledge of papermaking and water treatment are seen as benefit
  • Ability to develop solutions for unforeseen circumstances while delivering onsite solutions
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical components
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, both written and oral
