Position Overview
The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing internal communication strategies that support our company’s goals and objectives. This role also focuses on enhancing employee experience and engagement by leading programs and initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Essential Job Duties
- Develops and executes comprehensive internal communication plans that align with the company’s objectives, values, and goals.
- Creates and manages internal communication channels, including intranet, email campaigns, company calls and leadership updates, and social media platforms.
- Leads employer social media and online reputation initiatives with platforms like Glassdoor and Indeed.
- Collaborates with HR and other departments to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience.
- Collaborates with Marketing to ensure communications and employer social media presence is aligned to the brand.
- Crafts clear, compelling, and consistent messages for internal audiences, ensuring alignment with the company’s voice and brand.
- Organizes and leads employee events, town halls, and other initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture.
- Creates and manages employee rewards and recognition programs.
- Conducts regular surveys and feedback sessions to assess employee engagement and satisfaction, and uses insights to drive improvements.
- Develops and maintains a content calendar for internal communications, ensuring timely and relevant information is shared with employees.
- Supports change management initiatives by effectively communicating changes and ensuring employees are informed and engaged.
- Monitors and analyzes the effectiveness of internal communication efforts, using data to make informed decisions and improvements.
- Fosters a culture of open communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
- Champions our Values and Culture, demonstrating the highest levels of personal character, integrity, and professionalism.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, human resources, or a related field is required.
- At least 5 years of relevant internal communications, employee engagement, or related company experience is required.
Competencies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience with digital and social communication tools and platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Creative thinker with a passion for enhancing employee experience and engagement.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Positive attitude, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging workplace culture.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 business suite, emerging technologies (e.g. AI prompt engineering).
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the duties require the use of the hands to type and the ability to communicate, requires the ability to move about, some duties may occasionally require the ability to lift to 10lbs.
