The responsibilities of the Lead IR Technologist include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises team of Interventional Radiology Technologists and Technical Aides, manages staff schedules, and optimizes room assignments for efficient workflow and room turnover.
  • Manages inventory levels, oversees the supply budget, and controls costs through effective negotiations.
  • Maintains accurate inventory across multiple offices, ensuring proper stock levels and tracking backorders. Secures alternatives for backordered items to prevent shortages.
  • Acts as Radiation Safety Officer, managing dosimeter badges, reports, quality control (QC), and coordinating repairs.
  • Conducts and maintains QC across all sites, including QC on lead, C-arms, and vendor equipment.
  • Coordinates annual maintenance on equipment and promptly addresses equipment failures with vendors and service contractors to minimize workflow disruptions.
  • Maintains equipment registrations and ensures annual physicists' reviews of equipment for compliance and accuracy.
  • Adjusts radiation exposure based on treatment duration, adhering to safety regulations.
  • Ensures adherence to safety protocols and diligent work practices to maintain high patient care standards.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, organizational, and departmental policies.
  • Ensures that Vascular Institute, Interventional Radiology team members are knowledgeable about all products, equipment, and devices as it relates to the team members’ role(s).
  • Conducts performance reviews, annual evaluations for assigned team members, and addresses performance-related issues when they arise.
  • Ensures ongoing progress of Cross Training team members to ensure milestones are met and eventual successful completion of the IR Cross Training Technologist program.
  • Provides ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Serves as a liaison to physicians, staff, vendors, families, and other departments to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. Assists in clinical trials and other collaborative initiatives.
  • Proficiently performs advanced interventional radiology procedures.
  • Assists patients during tests, adjusting immobilization devices to achieve optimal imaging views as requested by physicians.
  • Supports physicians in performing interventional procedures, such as stent placement, angioplasty, dilatations, drainage procedures, mechanical thrombectomy, thrombolysis, ablation, embolization, biopsy, kyphoplasty, central venous placement, and distal protection device placement.
  • Travels to AMI VI sites to cover callouts and adjusts staffing schedules as needed, ensuring continuity of care and operational efficiency across the practice.

The Lead IR Technologist is primarily based in Galloway, with coverage provided in other AMI Vascular Institute sites in Brick, Toms River, or Vineland at least one (1) day per week. The schedule includes Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm, no weekends or call. Candidates must be flexible as hours and locations are subject to change based on patient and business needs.

Candidates must be ARRT certified with a valid NJ DEP X-ray License. The ideal candidate has previous experience in a supervisory role with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Recent hands-on procedural experience with interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization lab, or other endovascular procedures is a plus.

Candidates must be willing to provide coverage and travel to the AMI Vascular Institute sites in NJ, including, but not limited to Galloway, Vineland, Toms River, and Brick.
