Lead System Engineer

Role: Lead System Engineer

Day to Day:

Lead Systems Engineer to support their data protection platforms and strategy. This individual will be responsible for providing technical and process expertise in the development of a strategic plan, technical design, and implementation of organization's data protection ecosystem, including data backup, storage platforms and disaster recoverability solutions. They will provide leadership, assessment of customer and business requirements, strategic planning & design, collaborative solution development, and hands-on implementation and support of related projects, initiatives, and solutions.

Desired Experience:

• 7+ years of related experience working as an IT professional specifically focused on Data Protection (data backup, storage, disaster recovery)

Required expertise with data protection technology:

• Veeam, Azure Backup and PowerProtect Data Manager preferred
• Rubrik, Commvault, Netbackup, Tivoli TSM, etc acceptable

Required expertise with storage technology:

• Dell Unity, Dell Data Domain, Pure Flashblade, VMware vSAN, Azure Blob preferred
• HP, IBM, NetApp, AWS S3, etc acceptable

Required expertise with Disaster Recovery technology:

• vSphere Replication, VMware Site Recovery Manager, Azure Site Recovery preferred
• Zerto, etc acceptable

Preferred expertise with Public Cloud platforms:

• Microsoft Azure preferred
• AWS, Google GCP or Oracle OCI acceptable

Preferred expertise with virtualization technology:

• VMware (including vSphere/vSAN/NSX/vRealize), Azure Stack HCI & Nutanix preferred
• Citrix, Hyper-V, KVM, etc acceptable

Preferred expertise with OS administration:

• Microsoft Windows with Active Directory, Red Hat or other Linux

Desired Traits:

• Strategic technical leader who builds long-term strategy roadmaps, develops business cases, plans and executes project plans to deliver against strategic initiatives
• Proactive about collaborating with key stakeholders (customers/leadership/peer technical teams) to determine business, operational and technical requirements, evaluates technologies against those stakeholder requirements, builds technical designs that align with those requirements, analyzes trade-offs between design options, and builds consensus across stakeholders to agree on solutions
• Comfortable acting as a mentor for peers and junior staff, able to document policy/procedure and train staff to follow policy/procedure
• Comfortable acting as senior point of escalation for design, project planning, implementation, complex changes, and troubleshooting of critical incidents
• Comfortable working across organization to collaborate with peers to build consensus and design solutions and resolve technical/operational challenges, in a manner that is acceptable to all stakeholders
