About The Role

Our Lead Teacher works in collaboration withthe Studio General Manager and Department of Education to provideprogramming expertise, in addition tohiringand continued coaching for the teaching roster of YogaSix Hyde Park. Dutiesincludereviewing submitted sequences, auditioning teachers for format sign offs, providing feedback and coaching to teachers exploring new formats, and leading format trainings.

This role is also critical in helping to deliver apositivemember experience at YogaSix Hyde Park, ensuring that every member feels welcome. This includesdevelopingstrategies to maximize class attendance, planninga compelling slate of workshops, programs, theme classes, and retreats to supportmember engagement

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete certification in all six YogaSix core class types
  • Teach a minimum of 30 classes per month (minimum of 4 different formats)
  • Take an average of 5 classes per week for auditions, observations, evaluation, coaching, and development
  • Perform full-cycle recruiting for Teachers: recruiting, auditioning, hiring/onboarding, and ongoing professional development
  • Train all teachers on Y6 Core Values, Y6 Methodology and Philosophy, Set Sequences and Specialty Class structure to ensure teachers uphold Yoga Six’s standards
  • Develop and maintain a consistent class schedule, which benefits the students and offers variety while maintaining YogaSix Hyde Park attendance goals, and incorporatingtheme classes and workshops
  • Manage and assess the schedule on a regular basis and alter based on substitution requests, member attendance, and member feedback
  • Perform disciplinary action up to and including contract termination
  • Train wellness advisors and teachers on class types,how to properly recommend the right class for members, and delivering a positive member experience
  • Engage in ongoing communication with teachers regarding current studio events, studio-wide changes and upcoming trainings
  • In conjunction with General Manager, responsible for member satisfaction and retention;partner with GM in the planning and execution of community events, pop up classes and other outreach

Requirements

  • Certified Teacher and currently teaching at YogaSix (not required, but highly favorable)
  • Minimum E-RYT 200hr Certified Yoga Teacher (500 hr Certified Teacher preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience (E-RYT status preferred)
  • Yoga Management experience preferred
  • Interest in evolving skills as a teacher and knowledge of various styles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience coaching and developing staff and effectively resolving personnel issues
  • Organizational skills/ High attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office required, ClubReady or Mind Body Online preferred
  • Must be located in Chicago, IL with the ability to be in studio on a regular basis

  • Ability to embrace change and adapt well to a fast-changing environment
  • Must be physically able to walk through the classroom freely in order to demo postures and transitions in a heated room, monitor students' movements, provide them with hands-on adjustments (as needed and if desired by students) and to facilitate dynamic, energizing, empowering and fun yoga and fitness classes
  • Physically able to lift and carry 1-10 lb. equipment
  • Ability to operate equipmentsuch asheating element, AV, and humidifier
