JOB SUMMARY

Provides professional library services in a branch library or central library unit. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

  • Catalogs and classifies library materials in all formats including foreign language, audio-visual, genealogy and law materials.
  • Performs original and copy cataloging.
  • Assists in local database management including deleting files and holdings in both the library catalog and the OCLC database.
  • Performs quality control on work completed by vendors, checking for quality of processing and accuracy of data input. Performs research for head cataloger in library owned materials.
  • Processes materials as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school. Transcripts are required.
  • Knowledge of current library practices and technologies. Cataloging experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
  • Supervisory and organizational skills; ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.


STARTING SALARY RANGE $24.72 - $30.91 per hour based upon qualifications
