Idaho Scientific designs and deploys secure system solutions through novel CPU design, crypto cores, purpose-built system-on-a-chip architectures and hardened operating systems. What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Design, develop, and deploy Linux kernel code for a variety of hardware devices
  • Collaborate with hardware team to design hardware/software interfaces
  • Bring up Linux on new hardware and develop strategies to get multiple hardware systems operating in unity
  • Modify key kernel subsystems to facilitate novel hardware capabilities
  • Participate in all aspects of the product design life cycle including system architecture, design, development, verification, and acceptance testing
  • Document design and results
  • Work individually and with a team to complete tasks

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to get a security clearance
  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to clearly capture complex technical concepts in writing for both technical and general audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • More than 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • In-depth understanding of drivers, interrupt handling routines, and kernel subsystems

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Active US Security Clearance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of a range of Linux kernels
  • Experience working with avionic hardware and standards
  • Demonstrable experience working with RHEL 7.x - RHEL 9.x releases
  • Experience applying principles of secure software / firmware development in embedded systems
  • Experience reverse engineering hardware and software
  • Expertise in multiple software systems design tools and languages including ‘C’ and other languages such as Python
  • Designing software systems running on multiple platform types
  • Experience with LXC, Docker, or similar containers
  • Software systems testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels
