Under limited supervision, develops and deploys strategies and initiatives that drive down logistics costs for all areas of PSG’s business, inbound and outbound, domestic and international.

This position works closely with supply planning, customer service, finance, and operations management to implement and enforce business processes that eliminate excessive costs.


The position will be based in Houston, TX, and will report directly to the SVP of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for setting the annual freight budget by category, and ensuring adherence to budget with monthly KPIs.
  • Designs and implements an optimized freight network, with selected partners per mode and geography, national and international
  • Negotiates rates with all freight partners, inbound and outbound, domestic and international, and ensures correct billing in line with those rates.
  • Works with purchasing on developing lowest landed cost solutions taking into account freight cost, duty, and tariffs
  • Works with finance to ensure all monthly freight costs are allocated to the appropriate G/L account
  • Maintains status logs for all incoming international freight and communicates that to all impacted parties.
  • Participate in annual budget setting and cost control initiatives, and ensure costs are in line with budgeted expectations.
  • Facilitate claims for non-delivery or damaged goods
  • All other duties as assigned


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a supply chain, logistics or financial curriculum preferred
  • Five years’ experience (minimum of 10 years required in lieu of a degree) in logistics and provider management
  • Candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of cost reductions and increased service levels thru metrics managed SLA’s.
  • Candidate has experience driving senior management-level quarterly business reviews with preferred logistics providers.
  • Understanding of metrics management and can present examples of successful metrics-driven applications
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid judgment with the ability to make good decisions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of metrics management
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization
