Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Supply Chain, the Logistics- Import/Export Manager is responsible for inbound/outbound freight contract and negotiations, developing and implementing suppliers cost savings initiatives (heavy focus on transportation suppliers & packaging solutions. This position will manage IFE reconciliation and all other import/export activities (ensuring import/export compliance with customer and FDA), incoming delivery metrics and supplier KPIs, and instrument shipping and delivery.

Reporting Relationships

The Logistics Import/Export Manager reports to the Director of Supply Chain. This position will have a team of direct reports.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely delivery of products using the most appropriate procurement procedures & effective communication.
  • Identify potential cost savings initiatives and implemented strategic plans to Increase efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for introducing process improvements in the supply chain and identifying new vendors/suppliers (including diverse suppliers) without jeopardizing quality and service delivery.
  • Coordinate import/export shipment activities, including customs clearance and documentation.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to imports and exports.
  • Plan and monitor inbound and outgoing deliveries.
  • Work with freight forwarders and other third parties to ensure timely and accurate import/export processes and paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to imports and exports.
  • Responsible for managing the import process from start to finish, from collaborating with suppliers to negotiating contracts and ensuring timely deliveries
  • Manage all negotiations with carriers including freight forwarders and various other providers of transportation related services.

Education

  • B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Operations or another related field is required.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Seven plus years of related experience in Logistics or Supply Chain is required.
  • Experience importing and/or exporting products is required; importing FDA regulated products is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic sourcing, contract management, procurement processes, materials management and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong analytical skills, strategic understanding of financial measurements, presentation and ability to function and interact with a cross functional team.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to set goals, motivate and manage conflict.
  • Good project management skills, including strong decision-making, problem solving and strategic planning abilities.
  • Comfortable using WMS (Warehousing Management System) or TMS (Transport Management System), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), and other computer applications.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills and aptitude in supporting diverse teams and influence crossfunctionally are necessary as is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in a regulated environment including FDA, ISO 13485, ISO 9001 is desired.
  • Previous management experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Must have the ability to travel occasionally by either auto or air.
