Maintenance Manager - Manufacturing

Job Description

Reports to General Manager and oversees installations, maintains and repairs equipment used in heat treating procedures, building utility systems, electrical controls, heating & ventilating, physical structure and grounds are also responsibilities of this department to provide uninterrupted service. Service including fuses and disconnects for electrical 110v-480v troubleshooting, to include discharge of capacitors and servicing spark 6K volt igniters, motor repair/replacing, pumps, pneumatics, welding with MIG and stick. Building maintenance and repair, preventative maintenance. Some PLC experience required. Functions as first responder to plant emergencies which may include fire, anhydrous ammonia, natural gas, inert gas, and/or oil releases.

Essential Duties &

Responsibilities:

Serves as electrician in repairing electrical malfunctions and installing new equipment; may work as a plumber/pipe fitter in assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and sewer systems, and in opening clogged drains; acts as a carpenter in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of building fixtures and furnaces; will maintain tools and furnaces in good condition and use all tools carefully and as instructed. Manages preventative maintenance on equipment and prepares accurate records. Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Responsible for maintaining furnace oil levels and ordering oil. Orders departmental supplies. Management of lock-out/tag-out confined space entry policies. Oversees and administers task tests to department employees in a timely manner. Must be licensed and certified fork lift truck and scissor lift operator.

Qualifications:

3-5 years minimum Industrial Maintenance experience. To include but not limited to, electrical 110v-480v troubleshooting, motor repair/replacing, pumps, pneumatics, with MIG and stick welding. Building maintenance and repair, preventative maintenance. PLC, ISO 9001:2008, and NADCAP experience a plus but not required.

Working Conditions or Restrictions:

Work area temperatures can reach above 100 degrees Fahrenheit and work out doors during winter months on all shifts; must be committed to continuing education and be safety conscious. Is expected to be able to work in OSHA defined confined spaces which may include use of respiratory protection equipment.

Language Skills:

Must be able to communicate with all levels of management, peers, and employees, read, write, and speak English (Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.)

Mathematical Skills:

General Math Skills Required For Furnace Set-ups.

Reasoning Ability:

Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, use common sense and make quick informed decisions. Have the ability to solve and deal with a variety of complex business and employee related issues.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Have the ability to lead others by providing clear written and verbal communications to employees, subordinates, and members of the executive team.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to finger, feel with hands, push and pull with arms, pick-up lift or shift parts up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk, and stand for long periods of time, tolerate excessive heat and cold exposure, and exposure to hazardous noise, dust, smoke and OSHA defined confined space.

Work Environment:

General working environment for heat treating operation (heat, cold, noise exposure, dust, and smoke).

Employees are to submit to annual Audiometric testing, wear safety shoes, eye protection, optional hearing protection, use proper protective equipment, and wear proper clothing attire.
