Pinterest is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Infrastructure Deployment team, responsible for managing and scaling one of the largest-scale, cloud-based infrastructures in the world. As the leader of this team, you will drive innovation and efficiency in cloud architecture, infrastructure modernization, and reliability across the company.

This role is a highly visible opportunity to manage a team leading cloud systems engineering at a massive scale. You will guide your team to forge cutting-edge innovations in partnership with leaders in cloud infrastructure and architecture, creating world-class performance and stability for 500M+ Pinterest users. Your leadership will shape new and better standards and systems for 1500+ Pinterest software engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage engineering teams responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving a robust multi-region provisioning technology for our multi-architecture EC2-based fleet.
• Drive the team's efforts in containerizing workloads, automating the upgrade of OS versions across the fleet, and implementing immutable infrastructure principles.
• Collaborate with leadership and engineering teams to present recommendations and guide strategic decisions related to infrastructure deployment and management.
• Oversee the processes for patching and upgrading OSes, ensuring their availability across the Pinterest fleet.
• Manage and enhance the suite of tools involved in provisioning hosts at Pinterest, including OS/AMI pipelines, Puppet configuration, and base Docker images.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the team in troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to identify and implement optimizations in deployment processes and tools.
  
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in engineering management, leading teams responsible for infrastructure management, cloud server management, deployments, and OS provisioning.
• Deep understanding of Linux environments and experience managing large-scale infrastructures.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and guide a team of engineers.
• Experience with AWS services, particularly in the Compute and Networking domains, and managing multi-region environments.
• Familiarity with compute platforms that leverage EC2 instances.
• Experience with infrastructure as code solutions like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
• Familiarity with immutable infrastructure principles and practices, and their implementation in a production environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems and propose effective solutions.
• Knowledge of log collection tools and analysis techniques.
• Experience in providing internal customer support and managing service upgrades without interruption.
• Expertise in CI/CD practices, build systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins), and configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Salt).
