We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Manager of Transportation to join our team. This role is an integral part of our operations, ensuring that all transportation activities are executed effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of our transportation department, including dispatching, route planning, and managing the overall transportation budget.
Responsibilities
As the Permanent Manager of Transportation, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to
Overseeing the daily operations of the transportation department, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Coordinating with dispatchers to ensure efficient route planning and scheduling.
Developing and implementing strategies to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs.
Managing the transportation budget, including forecasting and monitoring expenses.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
Collaborating with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes.
Managing and leading a team of dispatchers, drivers, and other transportation staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
Developing and maintaining relationships with external partners, such as suppliers or vendors.
Implementing and monitoring key performance indicators to drive performance improvement.
Handling any transportation-related issues or disputes that arise, resolving them in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Permanent Manager of Transportation role, candidates must possess the following qualifications
A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on dispatching.
Proven experience managing a transportation department, including budget management and route planning.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve transportation-related issues effectively.
Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in using transportation management software or similar systems.
A bachelor's degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
