This Materials Engineering position is responsible for the development of sheet metal, extrusions, and subsequent surface treatments utilized in Body-in-White (BIW) components and assemblies.
In addition, the materials engineer works with the vehicle teams and core engineering to resolve material compatibility, warranty, production, and processing problems encountered during the life of a part or subsystem.
Being self-motivated, along with excellent organizational and communication skills, is critical for this position.
Ability to manage complex data sets, develop conclusions and identify next steps.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines (Engineering, Research, Laboratory and Design).
Assist in the resolution of assembly, manufacturing, durability & field issues. Liaison between the lab, engineering, and manufacturing.
Skills Preferred:
Experience working with complex data sets, and ability to calculate and draw statical conclusions Knowledge of automotive test methods and good laboratory practices
Experience Required:
Technically focused internships and/or cooperative assignments in the sheet metal industry
Experience Preferred:
1-2 years exp in sheet metal related work (mills, stamping, engineering, research, etc.)
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering, Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in metals
