Job Summary
As a Materials/Metallurgical Engineer at BPMI, you will perform materials engineering evaluations, analysis, and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks which may include a combination of several functions involving the design, fabrication, installation, and refurbishment of equipment.
Essential Duties
Review/prepare material and process instructions, standards, and specifications.
Prepare, follow, and report material development programs.
Provide materials engineering oversight of supplier processing and fabrication procedures.
Analysis of material conditions.
Troubleshooting and failure analysis.
Assisting with in-service inspections and evaluations.

Minimum Job Requirements
B.S. in Materials Science, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering (with an interest in physical metallurgy) from an accredited college or university required.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred for newer college graduates.
Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
Preferred Job Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering (with an interest in physical metallurgy) preferred.
Two years of experience is preferred.
Application of materials and processes in the design and fabrication of equipment. Preparation and interpretation of specifications and standards for metallic and nonmetallic materials and processes, and the metallurgy of materials to fabricate plant equipment or pressure vessels is desirable.
