We are seeking a dedicated Math Tutor to provide in-person tutoring to undergraduate students in various math subjects, including financial literacy, algebra, statistics, pre-calculus, calculus, and discrete math. The tutor's schedule will be created based on their availability, requiring a minimum of 10 tutoring hours per week while the college is in session. Some availability on Wednesdays is preferred. Tutoring sessions will be conducted in person between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., with potential for evening and remote hours after a successful in-person trial period.
Responsibilities And Duties
Tutor students in key math concepts
Review classroom topics and assignments
Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, and research
Provide positive and constructive feedback to students
Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments
Required Education And Experience
Master's Degree or higher in mathematics or math education
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff
Experience working with students with disabilities at the post-secondary level is preferred
Key Skills / Knowledge
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with computer programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite
Understanding of strategies to tutor neurodiverse students
Instructional knowledge regarding academic skills and strategies
Ability to utilize college-endorsed software for record-keeping and scheduling
Capability to perform the job in person
