Job Description

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist - Supervisor for our partner, a reputable regional medical center in Las Cruces, NM. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and supervise a dynamic laboratory team within an acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality and efficient testing processes.
• Oversee laboratory staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
• Maintain and ensure compliance with all laboratory safety and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission requirements.
• Conduct microbiological testing and analysis, with a strong understanding of AST (Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing) breakpoints.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to support patient care and diagnostic needs.
• Stay updated with advancements in medical laboratory science and implement best practices.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or equivalent.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working in microbiology within an acute care facility.
• Comprehensive understanding of AST breakpoints.
• Experience with Joint Commission requirements is preferred.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
