Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY

Edit consumer-facing articles to incorporate medical reviewer comments. Article are :2-3 pages, typically < 5 min read. Focus of articles include an overview of a condition (risk factors through treatment) or a specific part of the care journey (e.g., diagnosis, treatment, risk reduction, diagnostic test/procedure, treatment procedure, medication). May require referencing reputable publicly available sources to verify information.

Position Responsibilities

In order of importance, list the primary responsibilities critical to the performance of the position. Please include actual tasks and/or essential responsibilities that highlight accountability and level of judgment required.

  • Incorporate edits into documents provided in MS Word format (.docx), written in consumer-appropriate language (reading level target - 7th grade)
  • Provide guidance to other HIN staff to identify appropriate imagery (photo or other graphic) for the article
  • Maintain tracking sheet of article assignments

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Provide the primary groups or key positions that this position will have interaction with as a regular part of the position responsibilities. Include any external interactions as appropriate.

  • The primary interaction will be with the Medical Lead for the *** Health Information Network initiative.
  • Potential secondary interactions could be with the *** Health Information Network Content Strategy or Technology Development teams.

Education And Experience

Indicate the formal education, certification or license(s) required and/or preferred. Include the minimum number of years of relevant experience required for the position (where legally permissible).

  • Experience writing or editing consumer health education material for a U.S. audience (3 years minimum)

Technical Skills Requirements

Indicate the technical skills required and/or preferred, as applicable.

  • Ability to translate medical knowledge/scientific concepts to consumer language
  • Understanding of health literacy principles and ability to apply readability and reading level principles

Hard Skills:
