Mortgage Lending Assistant

We are looking to expand our team and are currently searching for a detail-oriented Mortgage Lending Assistant. The position of Mortgage Lending Assistant is responsible for assisting the Loan Officers in obtaining a complete mortgage file according to underwriter, bank policy, and investor guidelines as well as generating loan documentation for all types of mortgage loans. The position of Lending Assistant is expected to become fully knowledgeable and skilled in all areas of mortgage loans.

PLEASE NOTEThis is not a remote position. This is a full-time position working primarily out of the Palmyra facility, but we are open to discussion on alternate locations. Desired work schedule would be Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for 40 hours a week.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Review and process all initial applications for completeness.
  • Coordinate and prepare all initial documentation and disclosures such as loan files, loan packages, credit reports, and any additional mortgage application paperwork.
  • Review all loan package documentation for discrepancies, omissions, and income calculation then report any discrepancies to the loan officer.
  • Obtains information related to the mortgage loan origination process including but not limited to sending appraisal orders, obtaining flood certificates, and ordering title work.
  • Contacts 3rd parties or conduct necessary research to obtain information and/or documentation needed for loan file which includes but is not limited to insurance companies and agents, title companies, inspectors, financial institutions, and employers to obtain insurance, assets, debt verification, payoffs, and necessary invoices needed to prepare the file for closing.
  • Reviews, organizes, and maintains customer file in a digital format.
  • Utilizes a workflow and file checklist to be able to provide status updates to Loan Officers, Underwriters, and/or other staff.
  • Works directly with the Loan Officer and Underwriter to complete any required conditions to close.
  • Coordinate and prepare all final loan documentation and disclosures.
  • Works with the Loan Officer to coordinate and prepare documentation required for adverse action, renewals, modifications, and extensions.
  • Work as a team member of the HOMEBANK lending staff and provide support to all areas of the Lending Department as needed.
  • Be flexible and versatile with job duties as they arise throughout the day.
  • Be able to prioritize and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong Computer Skills with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Web Based Software and Applications

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
    • Light to moderate lifting or moving may be required up to 25 pounds.
    • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
