Assists school administration in supervision and monitoring of student behavior and related activities. Works with school staff and parents to prevent and resolve student behavior and attendance issues. Assists the Principal with school-based leadership, instruction, curriculum, and development of effective teaching and learning strategies. This is a 10 month position that follows the teachers calendar.
Requirements
NYS Teacher and School Building Leader (SBL or SDL) Certification
Must meet NYSED Fingerprinting requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience
Considerable knowledge of effective teaching strategies including best practices in classroom management
and of effective discipline practices and procedure
Working knowledge of school law, policies, and regulations
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing
Demonstrated abilities in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships,
program management and research and planning
Demonstrated ability to analyze data to make program decisions and improvements
Demonstrate an enthusiasm and passion for working with high school students
Major Responsibilities
Assists in monitoring student behavior in classes, on buses and at school events (athletics, clubs, dances, and concerts)
Assists in the implementation of the school discipline plan to provide a safe and secure environment
Confers with teachers and parents to resolve student behaviors and attendance issues that disrupt the learning process
Provides leadership in the development and implementation of an effective plan to reduce the amount of discipline referral
Assists the building principal in other areas as deemed necessary
Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence
Assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs
May perform other duties as assigned
