- Answer the telephone and make all appointments for patients.
- Schedule consults for physicians.
- Keep physicians informed of any changes in the schedule.
- Take calls and messages for physicians.
- Talk with potential new patients concerning our policies.
- File incoming reports, records and lab work.
- Fill out all forms (immunization, day care, school, sports, etc.)
- Greet patients on arrival
- Pull and stamp appropriately all patient charts needed for exam, immunization, lab work, telephone messages and/or patient prescription.
- Confirm that patient information/data is correct on the chart.
- Enter into the computer all name/address changes on patient accounts.
- Copy current insurance card.
- Secure parent/guardian signature on orange card.
- Prepare new patient charts and enter them into the computer.
- Calls all;No Show appointments and notes it on the chart.
- Run charge ticket and place them on the chart.
- Place chart back for the physician's assistant.
- Write the doctor's excuses for school/work as directed by the physician.
- Call in prescriptions for the patient as requested by the physician.
- Hand out prescriptions, immunization/school/camp forms that are picked up.
- Make appointments for patients to receive lab work, x-rays, and to other physicians and/or specialists outside practice.
- Complete and document any insurance referral that may require authorization from the PCP to a specialist/institution.
- Copy patient records to be sent to new physician -This position will work front and back office on the Saturdays they work. Will keep office running smoothly, notify the answering service when the office is switching calls, call and accompany patient from the waiting room to the exam room and clean the exam rooms between patients.
- Receives charge ticket from patients and determine charges listed by the physician, check for insurance coverage and inform patient of co-pays at time of service.
