Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit

The Division of Diagnostic Sciences focuses on oral radiology and pathology through a combination of basic science and general dentistry, guides the diagnosis of oral diseases, and helps develop patient treatment plans. The Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology discipline specializes in the ever-changing technology used to help diagnose and treat oral-facial diseases and conditions. Their background equips them to skillfully work with advanced technologies such as digital imaging, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging scans, and much more.

Position Summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ( UNC ) Adams School of Dentistry invites applications for an Open Rank, full-time, fixed-term faculty position or tenure/tenure track faculty position in the Division of Diagnostic Sciences. The division has a strong pre-doctoral radiology curriculum, an outstanding radiology advanced education program, a commitment to community service, an active faculty practice, collaboration with many clinics and departments within the school and university, and history of funded extramural research. We are seeking an oral and maxillofacial radiologist who is an outstanding educator, clinician, scientist, and communicator and who will participate in didactic and clinical instruction as well as in research activity. There is also the opportunity for a leadership role. The successful candidate will also be expected to mentor graduate students in their research projects for the Master’s degree. A State of North Carolina limited academic dental license may be available for qualified candidates. Participation in an intramural faculty practice is expected. Rank, track and salary will be determined after reviewing the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

A Doctor of Dental Surgery ( DDS ), Doctor of Dental Medicine ( DMD ) or equivalent degree, advanced education in oral and maxillofacial radiology, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology certification or at least completion of Part 1, excellent oral and written communication skills, and commitment to collegiality.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

A record of scholarly achievement (required for tenure/tenure track position), experience teaching and mentoring students.
