This position is primarily responsible for auditing a construction vendor's work to ensure that construction practices as well as the municipalities’ construction guidelines are met by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Completes quality control of construction by construction vendors for both aerial and underground construction methods.
  • Attends preconstruction meetings with the construction vendors and municipalities.
  • Spends most of their time in the field.
  • Measures and audits work completed and approves payment for contractors.
  • Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and submits progress reports.
  • Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
  • Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures are followed, and materials used conform to specifications.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable for minimizing capital and expenses by auditing the construction vendors' work and signing off on the footages that are billed for by the construction vendor.

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Internet Software; Time Reporting System; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word) and Electronic Mail Software (Gmail).
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid, unrestricted drivers license
  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Three to five years of experience with underground and aerial telecommunications construction.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly pay rate range: $33.00 to $35.00, DOE
  • Medical, Dental, Vision Coverage, Supplemental Insurance through Aflac, & 401K plan
