Part-time Elementary Math/English Teacher

Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Thornhill is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, loves to learn about letters, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.
Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.
This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

In this position, you will play a key role in helping students develop their self-confidence and self-esteem. Our Candidate Must Have

- Strong ability to organize, problem solve and multi-task
- Must be flexible in availability
- Experience working in an educational environment (minimum 1 year)
- Extensive knowledge of written and verbal of the English Language
- Proficient in math and problem solving, both written and verbal
- Ability to teach English and Math to Elementary students, and preferably Secondary students
- Ability to teach French, or other subject areas would be an asset
- Completed or in process of completing an undergraduate degree
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or working towards (including equivalent) would be a strong asset
You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:
- Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
- Teaching online and in-person
- Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Filling in post-lesson notes
- Completing daily student communication updates
- Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Salary: $17 / hour
Schedule
- 1-2 afternoons, evenings a week Monday-Thursday (4:00pm - 7:00pm)
- and/or Saturday mornings (9:00am - 12:00pm)
